DISASTER RELIEF Metal Signs

Sign Cat is wholeheartedly committed to all the people, communities, businesses, and other organizations affected by Hurricane Helene.

We have done and continue to do what we can by collecting donations and purchasing relief supplies, delivering loads, cutting fallen trees and limbs, and clearing debris. We know this will be a long road back to a sense of normalcy…therefore, we will continue to partake in ways of helping in the recovery.

Sign Cat understands the wide destruction to properties – both residential and commercial – and that many replacement signs will be needed for these properties. As our commitment to the communities destroyed by the hurricanes, Sign Cat is now offering:

As a Carolina-based small business, many of the areas impacted by Hurricane Helene are very dear to Sign Cat’s founder / owner. Not only was Alec born and raised in Western North Carolina, he attended his first two years of college in Brevard, and spends much of his leisure time hiking, camping, river tubing, snow skiing, etc. in the great outdoors of the North Carolina Mountains. Alec is deeply saddened by the vast amount of destruction and loss of lives caused by the recent catastrophic natural disaster.

If you were affected by Hurricane Helene, our hearts go out to you and we truly wish you all the best in making positive steps forward.

Sign Materials

Sign Cat’s signs are made with one of the following types of material:
Aluminum, .080 gauge
Polymetal, 3mm
Corrugated Plastic, 4mm

OVERLAMINATE PROTECTION

At Sign Cat, we prioritize longevity. While our signs are built to endure, natural exposure over time can impact their performance. Our Overlaminate provides a protective shield for the inks, safeguarding against degradation, moisture, and abrasion. This permanent adhesive is a valuable addition, enhancing the overall lifespan of your signs. Explore the benefits of Sign Cat’s Overlaminate for sustained durability and performance, illustrated below.

Reflectivity Sheeting

At Sign Cat, we understand the pivotal role of effective reflectivity in ensuring safety on the road. We recommend the use of 3M High Intensity reflective sheeting for Street Name signs and directional signs. Diamond-Grade sheeting is also available for signs placed in high-traffic scenarios. Check the illustrations below for a clear comparison of reflective sheeting types. Always refer to FHWA and MUTCD requirements before placing your order for road signs.
Engineer-Grade

Generally best for:

• Non-critical signage
• Commercial signage
• Walk-up signage
• Most parking lot signs

Meets and exceeds ASTM D4956 Type 1 specification, with Class-I adhesive.

High-Intensity

Generally best for:

• Most traffic signs
• Fire/Exit signs
• Street name signs
• ADA signage

Three times brighter than EG. Guaranteed to retain at least 80% of its original specified brightness, even after IO years. Excellent for maintaining FHWA • required levels of
retroreflectivity.

Diamond-Grade or Fluorescent

Generally best for:

• The most critical situations,
i.e. dangerous intersections,
notoriously bad weather,
work zones, etc.
• School, Children, and
Pedestrian signage

The brightest sheeting available, three times brighter than High Intensity and up to ten times brighter than EG.
The highest level of retroreflectivity available, it is ideal for complex night-time conditions.

Reflective Backing Grades

Similar Reflectivity from Varying Distances

Sign Cat prioritizes safety by utilizing High-Intensity reflective backing for all Traffic and critical situation signs. Special categories like School, Pedestrian, and Work Zone demand an even higher grade, such as Diamond-Grade or Fluorescent reflective backing, as needed.
